Breeding/Stud
We have two impeccably bred promising young stallions in Thompsons Prophecy and Kirkbys Stud Jericho standing at stud, combined with top quality broodmares with proven pedigrees and performance. We work closely with veterinarians to optimize the efficient breeding of mares, early detection or pregnancy or twins and raising healthy foals. We have progeny for sale at most times and also stand outside stallions at client’s request.

Training & Showing
This is available year round, though cattle are only available seasonally.therefore training on cattle is done from September to Febuary annually.
We can train your horse for most disciplines. We also can show your horse in ASH breed shows, campdrafting and cutting.

Colt Starting
A quality start gives a foundation that will remain with the horse throughout its life. A full list of what you can expect from a horse started by us can be supplied by request.

Clinics
• Innate Horsemanship: This is the cornerstone of the horse/human relationship, to help you gain an understanding of achieving a superior relationship with the horse during these clinics we include a theory forum, working with your horse on the ground through to developing a riding partnership, and how the human dynamic can help or hinder your horses movement.
• Cattle working/campdraft: Skills learnt are useful for work, pleasure or competition.
• Colt starting: Viewing or participating in a colt starting clinic gives a valuable insight into understanding the universal laws that horses live by. You will gain insight into horses personalities and body language and the process of starting under saddle by setting everything up for the horse to understand it.
• Sharing our learning’s is the most rewarding aspect of our business. Our balance of fundamental principles and methodology assists the rider in both the practical and innate elements to horsemanship, in a format that is commonsense yet challenging.

Lessons
One on one or group lessons are available by appointment.

Retraining
We also take remedial horses for re-education.

Cattle Working
Our cattle are worked in a low stress environment. Horses and riders are taught to understand the balance points and flight zones of a beast, skills that are both enjoyable and useful for those that wish to pursue sports such as campdrafting, cutting or team penning. We like to put a solid foundation on our horse before introducing them to cattle, then allow he horse the time to “cow up” and develop the correct shape whilst staying in the point of balance necessary to control the cow. We have several different sized arenas plus a mechanical cow.

Camprafting
This is Australia’s fastest growing horse sport. We start, train and refine horses and riders skills for campdrafting, whether they are serious or social competitors.

Farrier
Shoeing and trims are available by appointment.

Post Partum & Neo Natal Foal Care
At Salt River we offer the very best in agistment and foaling facilities. With our recently built irrigated foaling down yards situated next to our boxes and vet centre, monitoring and recording your mares progress is consistent and effective. With a specialized veterinarian and our comprehensive checklist on hand, every aspect of your mares gestation, birthing and veterinary treatments as well as your foal’s development and treatments are recorded and available for you to take home with you.

Rehabilitation
This is available for horses with soft tissue, sports related and tendon injuries, horses that require bandage changes, boxing and physical therapy. We work with an APA registered human sports therapist with close co-operation from the veterinarian using drug free rehabilitation where possible. Treatments include ice, heat, exercise, massage, lasers, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and magnetic fields.
