McNeills Reagan

Australian Stock Horse Mare ASH114961 DOB 20/10/1990

McNeills Reagan

Reagan was purchased as a 6 year old. Reagan is by “Warrenbri Romeo” out of the “Abbey” mare “Edenhope Margo”. This cross is regarded as the magic cross in campdrafting and is sought after Australia wide. They include “Cwmteg Arnold” (Warwick Gold Cup winner) and “Warrenbri Susan” (ABCRA Open horse of the year). Reagan’s sire (Romeo) and grandsire (Abbey) are the leading producers of campdraft horses and their progeny have won at every major venue in Australia over many years. Reagan’s dam played in three polocrosse nationals as did her full sister “McNeills Mischief” and her half sister “Yowada Danielle”. They have all won numerous pony prizes and ASH polocrosse awards.

Reagan was used exclusively for campdrafting and was a multiple open campdraft, cut out and working stock horse winner. She had a massive stop and a haunch turn second to none. We chose to breed her regularly rather than campaign her heavily so we could utilise her incredible genetics.

Her achievements include:

• Winning 6 consecutive Open Working Stock Horse classes in a row
• Won Open Campdraft, Top Cut Open and Open WSH at Mayanup 2003
• Ran an 88,89, 90,91 and 92 at Coolup 2005 to win the Coolup Gold Nugget Open and Champion of Champions Draft
• 2002 was awarded the state Open Campdraft Horse and Champion Working Stock Horse titles

Foals

Reagan has had six foals. They are:

“Saltriver Rea (Impulse)” (1999 mare) by “Dogwood Comet”,  “Saltriver Indego” (2002 mare) and “Saltriver Iris” (2004 mare) by “Lightview Bounty”, “Saltriver Proof” (2006 gelding) and “Saltriver Fable” (2008 filly) by “Thompsons Prophecy” and “Saltriver Solitaire” (2009 colt) by “Kirkbys Stud Jericho”.

She is currently in foal to Jericho and will be available for embryo purchases from October 2010.

Saltriver Rea

(Impulse)

Australian Stock Horse Mare 158453 19/11/1999

Saltriver Rea

Impulse is the first foal out of Reagan and is by “Dogwood Comet”, the great producing son of “Elliotts Creek Cadet”. Comet lost the sight of an eye at four years of age due to an injury, shortly after winning a Maiden campdraft, and was retired to stud duties. Ten years later he came out of retirement to win a progressive draft before again being retired. Comets dam “Dogwood Madam” was never broken in due to injury. She was out of the great campdraft mare “Dawn” and by the legendary “Rivoli Ray”.

Comets progeny include the highly decorated “Hazelwood Conman”, “Hazelwood Lex”, “Warrenbri Amber” (Liberty), “Boonara Mentor” and “Combat”. These horses contain the same Comet/ Romeo (Reality) cross as Impulse. Comet is also the sire of “Ocean Midnight”, dam of “Willdraft Ignite” winner of 2007 Cloncurry Challenge, 2007 ASH National Maturity and the Open Challenge at the 2009 ASH National Championships.

Impulse has only been campaigned very lightly and has competed in both campdrafting and polocrosse. She is a multiple open draft winning mare and has won many top cut outs. She has also a won a time trial and working class at the only ASH State Championships she attended.

Her list of achievements to date include winning:

•    Novice Kayanaba Campdraft 2005
•    Leeuwin Cup Open Campdraft Equirama Margaret River 2007
•    C grade best Australian Stock Horse Western Australian State Championships Polocrosse 2006

Saltriver Dolly

Thoroughbred Mare 1990

Dolly is an exceptional thoroughbred mare we have decided to keep as a brood mare.
Dolly played polocrosse until she was 12 years old. She played mainly B and C grade with Sam Bergeson. She was purchased by the stud in 2000 for her athletic ability, good looks and her lovely disposition.

Her first two foals are “Saltriver Serendipity”, who played B grade polocrosse for Adrian Cobley, and “Saltriver Stirling” owned by Lisa Hocking.

If you are wishing to purchase a horse that the whole family can ride, she is the mare to book a foal from.

Beansville Spotlight

Australian Stock Horse Mare 154815 8/12/1999

Spotlight is by “Lawlors Bandanna”. Bandanna was the 1990 ACA Open Horse of the year, and has sired many great campdraft horses. He is by one of the great ASH sires “Elliotts Creek Cadet”.

Cadet’s sire “Commandant” produced many good campdraft horses in Queensland and Cadet was out of the extremely good “Bobbie Bruce” mare “Respect”. Cadet himself was a multiple open draft winning horse, included in his wins was a Canning Downs Campdraft. He went on to produce many great campdraft horses including two Warwick Gold Cup winners. Cadet, along with Abbey and Romeo, continue to be the most influential bloodlines in campdrafting and polocrosse. Spotlight’s dam Kay M Satin (Searchlight) won 14 drafts including Open, Ladies and Progressives. Searchlight was a finalist in both the Warwick Gold Cup and the Pearl of the North.

Spotlights career was cut short by a serious hock injury but she was showing great promise and was very quiet. Her foals are real people horses.

Waneela Rhythm

Australian Stock Horse Mare 136168 19/11/1996

Rhythm was purchased from Barnett Stockhorses with the view to campaign her both in polocrosse and campdrafting. Unfortunately Rhythm sustained a coffin bone fracture and had to be retired. She placed in campdrafts and working classes from very limited competition. Rhythm is a beautiful big strong quiet mare that showed a very natural and athletic way of travelling. She had an ability to maintain traction on slippery surfaces in a balanced manner. She is proving an exceptional breeding mare. Her foals are big, strong, quiet and true to type.

Rhythm is by “Glenalvon Rifleman” who is by the Impact Sire “Nabinabah Gunner”. Gunner is a full brother to “Nabinabah Breezette” (winner of every major campdraft in Australia including a Warwick Gold Cup and two time ABCRA Open Horse winner in 1983 and 84).   Rhythm’s dam “Melody” is by the “Abdul” horse “Tabletop Able Sam”. Rhythm blends a nice mix of the famous Glenrock Stn TB genetics and just a touch of Clover QH bloodlines through her grand dams on both
paternal and maternal sides.

Saltbush Suzie

Quarter Horse Mare Q-41223 15/10/1998

Susie was purchased as a broodmare for Saltriver for her exceptional QH genetics. Her sire “Peppys Rattler” is by one of the original QH imports in “Peppy Snake”, an own son of the great “Peppy San Badger”. Rattler is out of a “Jackhammer” mare in “Georgie Girl”. Jackhammer was one of the first imports to Australia and is the sire of the #2 leading dam of cutting horses in Australia in “Clover Cherry Ripe”. Cherry Ripe can now be found in the breeding of both campdraft and cutting sire in “Freckles 49er” and “Seligman Spin”.

Jackhammers sire sons include “Santa Clause” (sire of the brilliant Warwick Gold Cup winner and multiple ACA Champion Open horse “Hazelwood Reliable” and the highest money earner in campdrafting history). Saltriver Indigo

Australian Stock Horse Mare 159684 12/11/2002

Indigo is by “Lightview Bounty” a stallion purchased by Heath and Kellie as a three year old. Bounty is by Richard Bull’s imported horse “Tassa Lena” out of “Comara Tequila”. Tequila is a full sister to Wally Rea’s great mares “Playtime” (1988 ACA Open Horse) and “Playmate” (1987, 88, 89 ACA Novice Horse and 1989 ACA Open Horse). She is also a full sister to the multiple open draft winners in “Try Me”, “Comara Playgirl” and “Abbeyhawk”. Tequila’s full blood sisters and brothers include the highly decorated “LTA”, “Lil Abner”, “Ability”, “Flic Flac” and “Spirit”. Comara Tequila’s dam “Pack Mare” and her full sister “Lilly 2” are two of the most prolific producing dams crossed to Abbey. Descendants of this family are still winning major campdrafts and this bloodline is highly sought after. Bounty was lightly campaigned winning led, ridden and working classes, top cut outs and both won and placed in campdrafts. He was an easy travelling horse and ran very soft to his cattle. Bounty was reluctantly sold as a six yr old however we have retained progeny by him and have stored semen for personal use. Indigo is the second foal out of Reagan. She has only been campaigned lightly to date and has placed and finalled in Maiden campdrafts.
